FAQs

Do I need screws or drilling?

No screws, tools or drilling required!
It's easy to install your cat gate, simply put up the compressions bars and then fit the pieces together.

Once installed the side bar slides the netting open and closed easily.
You can pick which side bar opens & closes the netting depending on your requirements.

Sizing & measurement details?

Being 72" tall means that even escape artists and jumping cats won't get past this cat gate!

They are perfect for doors and hallways that are 28 - 45 inches wide, or 44 - 78 inches wide. Make sure the widest point and narrowest point fit in this range (including baseboards).

Unfortunately we can't customize the size of our Cat Gates.

Can cats climb over the gate or chew through it?

The gate is totally cat proof! Cats also can't climb the gate because the netting is a different size & shape to screen doors.

Cats can't chew or scratch their way through the gate netting which is strong and durable.

We provide a 60 day return so you and your fur-baby have total peace of mind.

How do I use the Cat Gate?

The Cat Gate is installed in a doorway, hallway or other area that you would like to stop your cat getting through.

We can't guarantee that other the gate is suitable for other animals such as dogs, because it's designed specifically for cats.

The Cat Gate may not be suitable for small kittens if you have thick baseboards, as they may get through small gaps on the sides of the gate. As with all animal products, the safest way to use the Cat Gate is with supervision. For the full terms of use, please CLICK HERE.

What are the shipping times for the cat gate?

The standard shipping time is 3-5 days within the U.S after dispatch (Shipping to Hawaii and regional areas may take slightly longer in some instances). Other country shipping times vary by location.

We include FREE shipping to U.S locations for orders over $50!

You will receive an email with tracking details once your order is shipped and the delivery company has updated their system.

What's the diameter of the pads at the end of the rods?

The pads at the end of the top and bottom rods are 2 3/4 inches wide in diameter, however it's okay for them to hang off the wall or doorway a bit.

Can it be set up next to a door?

Lots of Cat Parents use their Cat Gate next to a door. As long as you have enough room next to the door, you can set it up and still open and close the door and the gate.

Will handrails get in the way?

Unfortunately the Cat Gates can't be installed where there is a handrail, because the verticle rods are rigid and can't go around them.

Will archways or angles work for the Cat Gate?

Unfortunately the Cat Gates can't be used in archways or areas on an angle. The hallway or doorway needs to have straight sides opposite each other (not diagonal).

Highly Functional & Effective Gate! And Great Looking Too!

I love my meowsafe 72" Extra-Tall Cat Gate. Definitely a 5 Star product! It works really well and looks good. And the product itself was very straight forward and easy to install following the directions.

In my home, I had to add an additional wood board - floor to ceiling, because I have wood wall paneling. On one wall, there wasn't a stud behind the paneling where the poles extend and are then pressure fit. The added board provides rigidity and strength to protect the wall paneling; and it allowed me to really tighten the poles, once extended.

I'm integrating a new 14 year old cat, Peanut, with my existing 13 year old cat, and it's been a very slow process. The mesh gate has worked perfectly!! It allows the cats to finally see each other, while at the same time, allowing them to feel safe given the gate between them.

Peanut is much more outgoing and rambunctious than my other cat, and she initially tried to find a way past the gate. But she quickly realized that the mesh wasn't climbable, as it easily "gave way"; she couldn't fit under the bottom pole; and she couldn't scratch at the mesh, as it was stretchy and her paws frequently went through the mesh openings. (Although I initially wondered if she could get tangled in the mesh, she had no problems pulling her paws back through it.) And after a few days of trying to find a way to get past the gate, she settled down and accepted it.

I used the four magnets provided (2 each, top and bottom) to create a very strong bond / lock when the sliding door is closed... just to be extra sure Peanut wouldn't be able to open it. I've never seen her try to pull the sliding door open in any way. The plastic channel also helps to prevent access to the side pole as well.

Overall, the gate is well designed and aesthetically pleasing - substantial but also soft looking. The only thing that would make it better (though I don't know how it could be done) would be if sliding the gate open and closed would be quieter. But with the rings attaching the mesh to the poles and sliding along the poles and the magnets securing the gate closed, there is going to be some rattling, sliding, and thud noise. For me, this is not really an issue, as the cats and I have gotten used to it.

So far doing its job! Even with inspection touching…😻

I our purchased this even after emails back and forth with Evan. I knew I would need to mock up something to keep the kittens from exploring down in our media room and our 4 6 foot soundlab speakers. So far they have inspected and touched it and rubbed on it, tried to stand up on it, but have not been interested. They can jump onto the windowsill, so I knew I needed to mock something up to ‘give’ the appearance of a ‘wall’; because they can make the 4ft vertical leap to the top of my kitchen cabinets. SO I came up with a display board, wood dowels, locktite puddy and real ducktape.
They don’t care if my husband goes down there, but I know if I do, I will go out the garage door and around as they will think I have left and there is just loud voices/movies/banging and will leave it be. So far so good. When they are a year old, maybe a loud boom will keep them away from them and they will watch basketball or something (which they do upstairs).
Thank you meow gate for keeping the family peace!
It was time consuming to put together only because of my situation. Once we decided which side would open we watched the video section by section as we put it together. Took us about 2.5 hours total after fussing around. All the parts were in the box and bags and well packed, despite ups ripping a hope in the box-all was well. I am lucky and starting with kittens, I can see how an older more savvy cat would figure it out. So far so good. My husband is happy he can go down and watch/listen without worry, as am I. It was helpful to have his extra hands, but I could have managed and mostly did, by myself.

Amazing and easy way to keep fosters contained.

Amazing and will work perfectly for my fostering needs!! Definitely better as a two-person construction as it’s very unwieldy for one person. But it can be done. Instructions are ok, I didn’t look at the video and was able to follow along just using the written instructions. The hardest part was getting the magnet and hanging rings attached with the rest of the unit mounted, definitely that’s where another person to provide support would have helped. We will see how it goes with my next batch but I really feel this will do the trick to keep them contained but allow air flow and keep my foster space and office from being the sauna I’ve been sweltering in every summer!!

Great purchase

My first order came badly damaged in the delivery. I had no issues with customer service. I had very quick response and soon after my replacement order arrived.
I am very happy with the customer service as well with my purchase.
This netted gate keeps my cats separated and secure.
The lose net does in fact keep them from wanting to climb up, something I was really concerned about since I have a very high doorway.
I had no issues with installing it since I passed it onto my teenage daughters. But I supervised. Not complicated.
Overall great purchase and from a company with great customer service.

Only one of its kind out there

Wide enough to fit the entryway to our kitchen. There's a metal frame behind the drywall, the magnet sticks to the wall on one side of the frame.

Found the perfect gate for us...and our kitty

We were looking for a gate to put at the top of the stairs in a rental unit. We tried several of the metal gates but none were the right fit and most required tools and drilling. We decided to try the Meowsafe gate as it met most of our criteria and looked easy to install. There are tension rods on top and bottom, so that eliminates the need for any drilling or hardware. The instructions were easy to follow and should be done step by step for ease of install. It took about 15 minutes to install the gate. It fit the opening perfectly because of the tension rods. The molding at the bottom made for a narrower opening than at the top, and it still fit and moved perfectly. We like that you can easily see through it and that it is so lightweight and easy to use, even with just one hand. The magnets are very strong and certainly keep our kitty NoFace from being able to pry it open. The guard that attaches to the wall with Velcro creates another barrier. We're happy to be able to leave our bedroom doors open now while NoFace can't come in. She's a sweet Velcro cat that has kept us awake at night. This is a perfect solution for us! All the parts are exactly as described and arrived nicely wrapped in the box. I had some questions and Evan was incredibly responsive and knowledgeable. He even followed up to see that I understood and was able to implement his suggestions. Overall we are very satisfied with this gate and would recommend it to anyone who needs to contain their kitty.

Very difficult to put together, but it does the job.

Took my husband about 2 1/2 hours to put it together. The instructions were useless. That being said, the cats respect it, and it’s easy enough to open and close so you can get through. It looks just as pictured.

I was a little leary...

I was a little leary purchasing this after reading some reviews... assembly was easy without the videos, the most difficult to me was the stupid shower curtain hooks. I put 1 hook every other square on the bottom due to Phoebe being on the smaller side. Stevie, my blind boy, was actually the first one to attempt climbing the net, which caught me by surprise. I love the fact that I can leave my door open to allow fresh air in without worrying about my new rescues getting lost.

Peace in the home but

Once installed, my Joe has tried everything to get through the net to scaredy-cat Daisy. The gate works! Peace.
However, written and video instructions could be better and you definitely should go through both before you start. The end caps are bigger than the door jamb so I don't get full compression. I also had to add a couple staples/nails into the jamb below the cap because the top bar kept sliding down. Don't bother trying to gather extra net into the sleeves. The cat will pull it all out anyway. It's no problem leaving the net loose. Do the installation with a friend and it won't take four hours!
I'm very happy with the product.

Couldn’t be happier with this gate ☺️

I installed this gate to keep my long term foster cat upstairs where he’s safe from my dogs (I have another heavy duty dog gate at the bottom of the stairs). He challenged the gate for a short time, but now is happily enjoying free roam of the upstairs instead of being isolated to one room. If this holds up, it will greatly improve his quality of life, and will end my struggles of having to set up and take down heavy panels to give him more space☺️

Life saver

I have a 100+ year old house and because of its age, it’s just not level. I’ve tried numerous baby gates and all have failed because they couldn’t be properly anchored. I was lamenting this fact last week after 2 of my cats needed to be separated for separate medical reasons. Facebook ads came through and introduced me to Meowsafe. I ordered it that day and received it two days later. It did take me 2 hours to assemble (with kitty supervision of course) but I was so happy to see it worked in my house!

The magnets are super strong, the netting is loose enough the kitties aren’t tempted to climb it, and I think it should be easy enough to move between doorways as needed.

Amazingly Cat-Proof

At first I was reluctant to buy this because of the price, but the overwhelmingly positive reviews helped me take the chance. I am so glad I did so I am adding my review to help anyone on the fence about purchasing. This is well worth the price! For one, there was no other gate on the market I could find as tall and wide as this. We've had this for a month to keep our 3 cats out of the kitchen and for the most part the cats do not bother messing with the fence. Even when they do, the fabric and magnets are super strong and don't seem to be impacted at all by the cat's attempts. The gate is about 10" shorter than the top of the doorway, but it is tall enough the cats don't think about climbing. I also love that this is pressure mounted and can be moved is necessary. Thank you Meow Safe!

My Feisty 17 1/2 lb Burmese likes this gate

I have a Burmese named Onyx with ptsd that I’ve been trying desperately to help for two years. I installed this gate two days ago and he purrs up against it and is unable to break through and just gives up. He is a giant, soft and muscular cat and I honestly wasn’t sure if it was going to work for us, but it’s working great! I discovered that I can even go in the bedroom and fully close the door if I want, and the gate stays standing, although admittedly, this might be just a nice feature of the door I’ve stuck it in. This gate has been a huge help for me and I’m going to purchase another one soon.

Impressive and sturdy.!

Needed something for a reintroduction of my two voids. Thorzie has been having medical issues and Hudson was being aggressive, so I can't leave them together for now, so hopefully this will help. This gate is impressive, it looks great and seems to be very sturdy. The instructions could be better, video is not my favorite for information, especially when it comes to repeat views. The second gate should be much easier to get together. Tools were helpful, and everything was packed well. Easily 5 stars. Delivery was quick. I would definitely recommend.

Purrfect

I've been trying to rescue strays in my neighborhood. My baby was a feral who came to me 7 yrs ago. I took her in when the weather was below 0°. She finally accepted me & my home. She's an amazing companion. However; she's not a fan of other kitties. This gate has made the work I'm trying to do more tolerable.
Side note, I had a small issue & Lisa from MeowSafe took care of it for me quickly. Thery're a company that cares. I appreciate that very much.

Not as sturdy as needed

I love the gate except the end stoppers are plastic and easily chipped or broken. I am thinking about replacing the bars with a plumber pipe and attach it to the wall permanently. I also need it to elbow as the door frame is unconventional.
